After bursting through the scene in 2002-04, social networks are currently in their next phase of evolution. While social networks have themselves proliferated to the point of being commoditized, the applications built on networks are just taking off. Facebook took the lead in 2006 by opening up their platform and allowing 3rd party developers to create applications. Hundreds and thousands of applications have been built since then not just on facebook but other social sites like Linked in. A more recent trend is building applications for the iPhone. More devices and platforms are expected to join this race to build the next killer app. Our February event is focused on social network applications. We have great panel that will discuss how to build applications and what tools are available. More importantly, how can you make money off these applications.
